Dear Senators of the 20th Congress,
As you begin this new legislative chapter, we ask you to begin with the one thing that defines all great institutions: integrity.
Because if you don’t investigate yourselves—who will?
In recent months, the moral credibility of your Senate hearings has come under fire. At the center of it is a young man named Michael, or “Alyas Rene.” Once presented in your halls as a credible, detailed witness, he has now recanted on video—claiming coercion, bribery, and manipulation.
What he revealed, if true, shakes the foundation of democratic oversight.
But if it’s false—then one of your own is being unfairly accused and deserves the full clearing of her name under Senate scrutiny.
That’s why an ethics investigation is not an attack. It is a safeguard.
It is not a witch hunt—it is how truth and public trust are protected in a real democracy.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT SIDES. THIS IS ABOUT STANDARDS.
This isn’t about who you support politically. It’s about how the Senate conducts itself—and whether future witnesses will come forward with confidence or fear.
We ask:
• Who prepared or shaped Michael’s testimony?
• Were political names suggested?
• Were staff or consultants involved in the expansion of his statements?
• Was he psychologically evaluated or protected during this highly public process?
If the Senate truly believes in its role as a neutral arbiter, then this is your moment to prove it.
AN ETHICS PROBE CAN ALSO BE A PATH TO VINDICATION
If Michael’s recantation was a lie—then let this investigation be the venue to defend a Senator who now stands accused in the court of public opinion.
Let it be the process where reputations are not just questioned, but clarified.
This is not about punishing someone.
It’s about protecting everyone—the public, the institution, and yes, even the Senator involved.
If she was right, let it be known under oath.
If something went wrong, let it be addressed in the light of day.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU STAY SILENT?
Then the message becomes clear:
• That when the Senate accuses, it is gospel.
• But when a witness recants—it is ignored.
• That truth is only pursued when politically convenient.
• That ethics only matter outside the Senate floor.
And when that happens, the people begin to wonder:
If even the Senate cannot investigate itself, who still deserves the trust of the nation?
A HIGHER STANDARD BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP
You are the first Senate to open session after one of the most polarizing elections in recent memory.
What better way to show the nation that this 20th Congress will rise above theatrics and politics?
What better way to send a message that truth matters more than tribalism?
• Launching an ethics probe sends a signal that hearings are not weapons.
• That the Senate is not afraid of the mirror.
• And that even power must be accountable to the people.
BEGIN WITH HONOR—AND THE PEOPLE WILL THANK YOU
Let history record that the 20th Congress began not with division, but with discipline.
Not with silence, but with scrutiny.
Not with fear, but with fairness.
For if the Senate cannot uphold truth within, how can it expect to defend truth for the people?
Begin with truth.
Begin with courage.
Begin with us.
Respectfully,
Rob Rances

I really hope that the Senate heed this call for an ethics probe. The 20th Congress should start on a clean slate. So that the people will once again trust you, the people they voted!
I'm hoping kilay won't be the senate leader anymore.
